So far my plan is to drive them with an lm with the LEDs in series strings of 4, which would mean I would need 5 lm ics.
I would like to preface this post with stating that I am pretty new to the world of electronics. If the psu is at 12 volts, and the string doesn’t dissipate the full 12 volts, would I need to add a resistor in line with the LEDs, or would throttling it down lef pwm be enough protection?

The lm from what I understand would allow me to dim the LEDs hooked up to it with a pwm signal from the arduino; the voltage would be modified by the pwm signal and the current would be fixed.
